/ Blog / / Blog /As a designer, I see lots of little problems in the world. I look at something in search of its flaws. I will be bothered that things have to be the way they are. And then I channel that negative energy into finding solutions to those problems.
But as an artist, I almost see the exact opposite. Instead, I see lots of little beautiful things, often despite their flaws. I look at the world and appreciate the way things are. And I channel that positive energy into creating something new.
I need both, I think, to be who I am and do what I do. App icons are interesting to me because they’re between trying to solve a problem and trying to be art. They try to do both.
But the artist in me isn’t uncritical. It’s just not trying to find problems. It’s trying to find what looks beautiful. And I’m proud of what comes from thinking more like that.
