Walt Disney never said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
In actuality, it was written 15 years after he died, in 1981, by Sheralyn Silverstein for General Electric. It was first used in 1982 recruitment brochures for GE.
Tom Fitzgerald, an Imagineer working on EPCOT’s Horizons attraction (sponsored by GE), adapted it, “If we can dream it, we can do it,” which was printed on a wall at the attraction.
But my favorite piece of trivia related to this, is that Sheralyn Silverstein is also responsible for Olive Garden’s iconic former tagline, “When you’re here, you’re family.”
